Heather’s Story

Clinton, MS, US

I have had 3 pregnancies, 2 live births. The last one in 2008 ended in a c-section due to fetal distress and lack of dilation.
We had already discussed doing a tubal ligation so they were going to do it while I was open. It was taking a while and then the Dr got excited and said ” we have got to get this bleeding to stop or its going to be a hysterectomy”. There was a lot of people moving quickly and they never really told me what was going on. They gave me some kind of medicine in my iv to help with clotting they said. They finally got it under control and I went into a recovering room where they gave me a shot in my belly and a bag of blood. My bp was going low so they kept me in there for a long time. After a few hours I was finally able to see my baby.
I had some odd things happening after this birth that I didn’t have before so I asked the Dr. Things like extreme hair loss, I took in a quart size bag of hair that was just from my pillow and morning brush. My white blood count was really high. And my menstrual cycle was extremely heavy. I had to change overnight pads twice an hour and sleep with puppy pads on my bed to protect the mattress. I became anemic and was put on iron. The fatigue and white count and unexplained weight gain has just been blamed on my Lupus.  Things changed for sure after I had him in 2008.
